My name is Samantha. I have a lot of hobbies but my main hobby is collecting hobbies! Hahaha Mom jokes aside, my current hobby collection includes:
- Crochet
- Sewing
- Quilting
- Denim Upcycling
- Purses and Other Bags
- Hand Embroidery
- Reading
- Podcast listening, mostly fictional or narrative storytelling
I have always known how to crochet, don’t remember learning. My mother and her mother crocheted, embroidered, and sewed. I even remember seeing my maternal great grandmother crocheting tiny doilies with thread and she was blind at that point!
Mom and Grandma sewed most of my clothes, even for my Barbie dolls. I was always amazed at the tiny dresses my grandmother would whip up for my Barbies. They taught me hand stitch and embroidery, but not how to machine sew. I ended up learning during 2020 by making masks because I didn’t like the disposables or what others were making. So I got out the “Sew Mini” machine my mother in law had given me for Christmas years before, and with the help of my husband and videos I learned how to make a mask that I liked. When others asked me to make them some, a new path was found to where I am today!
